Beat the Elite Four and Hau. Seriously though, thank GOD the Ultra games don’t have twenty minutes of cutscenes (plus a battle with Tapu Koko) before the actual credits start. Instead all the cutscenes occur DURING the credits, and then you get a Gold & Silver homage in the second part of the credits.

Almost as soon as you can catch Pokemon you’ll get something called the Dexnav. It’s barely explained and can be pretty complicated but using it lets you catch “better” pokemon. The more you use it on a specific pokemon the stronger they’ll be, and may even come with some moves they can’t easily learn.
Also, hidden in the menu online settings are a bunch of really useful things. Like there’s Super Training which makes your pokemon stronger by playing these mini-games, and O-powers which gives buffs that get stronger the more you use them. You don’t have to use any of these if you don’t want, but they can be usefull, there’s even buffs to increase the amount of money, xp, and makes it easier to capture pokemon.
