Dear network,Last week I defended my thesis titled: "Deep-Learning-Based Image Segmentation for Uncommon Ischemic Stroke: From Infants to Adults". The defence was successful and served as a nice ending as my time as a PhD candidate at the AMC and UvA. Brain segmentation in patients with perinatal arterial ischemic stroke sciencedirect.comRecently, our study about automated segmentation of MRI scans of perinatal stroke patients was accepted in ๐๐๐ฎ๐ซ๐จ๐ข๐ฆ๐๐ ๐: ๐๐ฅ๐ข๐ง๐ข๐๐๐ฅ.In this study, we have developed two U-Net++ algorithms to segment the brain tissue types in each hemisphere. We hope to use these algorithms to create estimates of the volume of each brain tissue type and the ischemic lesion. Creating volume estimates by hand would otherwise require a great amount of time and labor.
